Beautifully crafted, this lightweight piece comes intricately designed with the Sea Monster print. With ribbons and d-rings on the shoulders, cuffs and belt, the seams which run along the arms, body and across the middle of the skirt are finished on the outside to highlight the construction of this garment.
From a portrait dating back to 1592, the Sea Monster print is lifted from a gown belonging to Queen Elizabeth 1st. With the print hinting at lands explored far away for the greater good of the English Empire, Vivienne combines the Bruce of Kineard tartan overlaid with hearts, stars and the letters AR, symbolizing her stance “Active Resistance to Propaganda”. Bringing the design to the forefront of her collection, the Tartan Sea Monster is carried through to Vivienne’s accessories for Autumn/Winter 13-14.
