“Shoes must have very high heels and platforms to put women’s beauty on a pedestal” – Vivienne Westwood
After the success of Vivienne Westwood Shoes in London last year, the exhibition has now embarked on a worldwide tour throughout 2011 and 2012.
Having begun in Russia last week at Moscow’s Tsvetnoy mall, the 100 shoe designs trace the success of Vivienne Westwood’s career to date.
From the signature Westwood Pirate Boots to the Super Elevated Gillie – known for Naomi Campbell’s famous tumble when wearing them on the catwalk – these shoes illustrate Vivienne Westwood’s defiance of the rules of wearability and convention.
This week the exhibition will open in Beirut, followed by a stop in the north of England then on to Hong Kong, China and Japan. Keep an eye on the news page for dates and new cities to be announced!
